ABOUT US

Formed in 1990, Boogalusa are a six piece band from Dundee who write and perform their own blend of Americana with a strong emphasis on Louisiana Zydeco/Cajun Dance music.

​

As Scotland's leading Cajun inspired dance band, Boogalusa still feature most of the early lineup and are celebrating their 30th anniversary next year.

MEET THE BAND

David Oudney (Accordian/Vocals)

As well as being a founder member, Dave is the band’s current songwriter.

 

David soaked up Cajun, Zydeco and Tex-Mex influences during the 80s and 90s on frequent trips to America, which is evident in much of Booglausa's music.

Kevin Findlay (Fiddle)

A member of Boogalusa since 1992, Kevvy has recorded 3 albums with the band.

 

As well as this he is a founder member of the Mad Parrot Ceilidh Band, and spends much of his time composing and producing his own trad music.

Alan Wilson AKA Washie 

Journalist and percussionist, Washie popularised the washboard as a percussion instrument in the East of Scotland.

 

As a founder member of Boogalusa, Washie has played across Europe with the band  for the last 30 years.

Steve Paterson (Bass)

Steve Paterson is a sculptor and musician based in Dundee. He has been bassist with Boogalusa since 1996 and has played on all of their recorded work, along with several other projects.

 

Steve is a fervent patter of dogs.

Ralph Teviotdale (Guitar)

Joining Boogalusa 25 years ago, Ralphy has played with the beand at festivals across the UK.

​

Ralph is also a member of Dundee wedding band, Danger Zone. 

Robert McGlone (Drums)

Rab joined Boogalusa 25 years ago and has played at T in the Park, the Shetland festival, Edinburgh Hogmanay Celebrations as well as playing at festivals in France, Holland, and all over the UK and Ireland.

 

He has played Bodhran in sessions from Broughty Ferry to New York and Barcelona.
